Student research presented at national/international meetings, spring 2011 Posted on June 6th, 2011 by

This spring, both seniors have had their thesis research presented at major geological meetings.  In May, Mike Hendrickson (’11) traveled to the Geological Society of America Rocky Mountain/Cordilleran section meeting in Logan, UT, to give a poster titled “Petrologic Investigation of Graphitic Breccia Pipe Adjacent to the Cu-Ni-PGE Deposit, Carlton County, MN.”   He reported having good conversations with other researchers about the formation of breccia pipes.  (Photo above: Mike, far left, talks to a conference attendee in front of his poster.)  In June, Prof. Triplett attended the 9th International Symposium on Geochemistry of Earth’s Surface in Boulder, CO, where she presented a poster titled “Eight years of silica sequestration by Phragmites australis in a fluvial environment”, based on Carson Smith’s (’11) thesis research.
